Merry (almost) Christmas!!

Who knows if I'll have time later in the week to say it, so Merry Christmas!

Today I'm trying my hat at Oreo Truffles...they are sort of a pain, but hopefully they will be yummy!!! I have a few other things to bake and the question is always "do I do it now and leave it in the fridge for 2 days or do I get up before dawn to do it tomorrow & Friday??

Randomness

Here's some insight into the ramblings of my brain on the Saturday before Christmas:

1. I would like to take Bubba to Lowe's so he can build a treat box for Dixie, but do I really want to deal with it all and Ella on top of it??? I think I can...I think I can...

2. Why is Sweet Pea more fussy now that her 8th tooth has finally broken through after about 2 months??? Stop fussing!

3. Why did I let my husband talk me into a new puppy and why does she love Sweet Pea's pacifiers?? Maybe I should have gotten her the giant paci-shaped Kong instead of the standard one.

4. For anyone who has known me long, I love to bake cookies. And to toot my own horn, I'm good at it. So, we did these Cookie in a Jar gifts this year for the mail-lady, the bus driver, etc so today I thought we'd make some ourselves today. Nothing like giving something away to find out later that it's nasty!! Anyway, I think I've discovered that WalMarts "Great Value" butter is AWFUL for baking. The last two batches of cookies I've made (including this one) are FLAT and crunchy. YUCK. Actually, these today taste pretty good, but they look hideous and they are a bit crisper than I like :) So, note to self - buy the good butter. The 3rd batch today isn't so bad after the dough was in the fridge for an hour!

5. And most important - which movie do I want to see tonight??

Coupon Fun

We have a little MOMS group up here in the sticks and our newest member is a coupon-savvy chick. She did a little talk on coupon-ing for us last month and passed along some great info and websites to get coupons from. Also, she told us good ways to use them (doubling, etc). So, today I was off to Kroger, which after a year of shopping there had never realized that they double coupons up to .60! Anyway, I saved.....

$29.20

How exciting!! I mean, I usually save a few dollars...but almost $30! Never before! So, I'm hooked on it now, though I'm not ready for the zippered 3 ring binder that she has :)

Rainy Sunday

it's a rainy, gloomy Sunday morning and I'm enjoying it in the silence with my coffee. Of course, it would be more relaxing if I weren't on puppy duty...hard to relax when something is biting at you or threatening to pee for the upteenth time on your carpet. I think it's almost crate time this morning.

The kids went to mom's last night for a sleepover and we hit the Wolfchase area. It really wasn't that horrible. We got a nice frame for our recent family pic thanks to Hobby Lobby's 40% off coupon :) We are DONE shopping for everyone except Colby's mom & my $10 dirty Santa gift. AHHhhhhhh (sigh of relief!) Colby & I will wrap everything today and may put it under the tree, since we have a gate now to go around it. I think presents would be too tempting for Sweet Pea. She does well with the tree, just pulls off the bottom ornaments, which are the ok ones. And the dog is leaving it alone, so that's a bonus. We had dinner at Macaroni Grill - parts were yummy HA!

Still I was up at 6:30, but decided to not fight it and just get up and enjoy the solitude.

People are too sensitive

Yep, I posted a political joke on facebook. Which I think I've never done before. And boy, some people are SENSITIVE. I've thought about deleting it, but ya know, God doesn't call for us to be politically correct or tolerant. I'm annoyed by this and taking an opportunity to stand my ground.

A Better Night = A Better Day?

Monday night was no fun at all. I was hoping for a great night after starting Sweet Pea on soy milk Monday morning. She did seem to feel a bit better all day on Monday. However, at 10pm, she started with the intermittant fussing. By midnight, she was crying, not a hurt kind of cry, but a "hey, I don't want to be in here" cry. I tried to wait her out but by 12:45 she was getting loud and I was afraid she'd wake Bubba up. So, I got her and was rocking her, she was being sweet, and here comes Bubba out of his room. Then Colby gets up...so it's 1am and the whole family is in the living room! Bubba thought it was time to get up since it is still dark at 6:30am when he gets up (I'll be so glad when he can tell time accurately!!). Colby got Bubba back to bed & I gave Sweet Pea to him so I could try to get some sleep. He put her down a bit later, and within 20 minutes she was up again. I didn't get her back down til 2:30. Then she was up at 5:30. YAWN. What the heck?? I was a zombie-mom yesterday. Luckily I didn't have anything to do!

Last night went much better. I had bought a sleep sack w/legs for her for cold nights and so I put that on her last night, gave her motrin & put her to bed at 6. She was exhausted (wonder why??) I was out by 9. She cried out once at 2:30 and I didn't hear her again til 6!! WooHoo! Maybe all this time, it hasn't been milk, but she's been cold? She has a space heater in her room since it does get cold. We'll see how the next few nights go with that on.

So, I'm more rested today and she seems ok. Hopefully I'll have new brakes on my truck today and we'll have a great day, even though it's gloomy & rainy out. And COLD! Wow is it cold!! Burrrr...it's good soup weather!
